Where to try Donabate Dexter beef eating out

We supply a number of restaurants with our beef, here are five places (from North to South) to go to try before you buy.

Just around at Blakes Cross, Highly recommended. Winters restaurant at Airport View Hotel has BIG Donabate Dexter burgers on the menu. Chef Michael knows exactly what he wants from a burger (nothing but steak, the very best, local, grass fed dexter, and cooked to perfection.) As an added bonus, this place has a spa including swimming pool, a whiskey bar, and obviously, being a hotel, has bedrooms. As an extra special bonus if you stay over, get a south facing room, look out the window and you might just get a glimpse of some of our Dexters grazing! In the summer months they hang out about 500 metres away on Butlers meadow, at the head of the Rogerstown Estuary. (You might not see them either, dexters are small and it may be dark by the time you get up to bed!)

When you have finished 18 holes of golf, what better to eat than a steak or burger that comes from grass fed cattle grazed on another local golf club, albeit one that shut down nine years ago now! John Wynne and his team in Donabate Golf Club do a fantastic job of feeding not only hungry golfers but also catering for dining-only customers and events for up to 100 people. This is a fabulous location to get a very reasonable lunch or early evening dinner, you don't have to be a golfer!

20 mins on the train from Donabate, we are honoured to be a regular supplier to the Stephens Green HIbernian Club. I think you have to be a member or at least know someone to eat here. Wayne Neville the chef only uses the very very best local produce and so it really is fantastic for us for our produce to be on his menu. This is the restaurant to go to try our dexter dry aged striploins and fillet steaks cooked perfectly, if you can get in!

Another venue we feel very privileged to be supplying, Locks is a very well known and loved canal side restaurant with countless very impressive reviews. As well as the regular restaurant Locks offers private dining for groups and events, you can even have your wedding here! Connor O'Dowd and his team were recently awarded Best Private Dining and Club Restaurant in Ireland at the 2018 Restaurant awards.

Last on the North-South trail but definitely not the least. Connor and Nicola Duggan know how to do restaurants, they have 6 or 7 of them around Bray at the last count, including platform Pizza, Cowfish, and the Harbour Bar. But our favourite has to be BOX Burger, because that's where you can get beauties such as 'The Dexter' and 'the Bulleit' both featuring our burgers (look them up on their facebook page) https://www.facebook.com/BoxBurgerBray Box burger even do home deliveries, not sure if they go to Donabate though so possibly no avoiding the DART, at least they are only one minute from the station!
